Frequently asked questions
Please read the below questions to clarify any queries you might have before applying for the grant.
Is my organisation eligible for a grant?
Only charitable organisations that hold both DGR and TCC status are eligible to apply for a grant. Applications received from organisations that do not hold both endorsements will not be considered.
How much funding can I apply for?
Although the Foundation does not specify a minimum or maximum funding amount, it generally provides small donations up to $20,000.
Does the donation I have received include GST?
No, any donation you receive will not include GST.
Do you have Open & Close dates for Applications?
Yes, the Foundation has two (2) rounds of funding per annum.
• The first round opens for applications on 1st February and closes at 5pm Melbourne time on 15th March.
*Any application (including all supporting documentation) received after a round of funding has closed will not be considered.
• From 2023 onwards, the second round of funding will be a Trustee Grant Round, and will not be open for external applications. We will contact you directly if we would like to hear more about your upcoming programs.
Do you support Interstate and/or International organisations?
We are only able to provide funding to organisations that are based in Australia. Whilst we have a strong preference for Victorian grantees, we will occasionally consider applications from interstate organisations.
Do You Provide Funding for Salaries/Wages?
The Trustees do not provide Grants for Salaries/Wages for existing grantee staff. Where an approved program requires specialist staff to be employed, the cost should be identified in the program cost and will be considered.
Can I submit more than one application in the same round?
No, only one submission per organisation will be considered at any one time.
Can I re-apply within a 12 month period if I have been successful?
No, the Foundation will only provide funding once in any 12 month period.
Can I apply for another project without acquitting a previous grant?
No, the Foundation will not consider providing future funding to an organisation unless they have acquitted all funds from a previous donation.
What if my organisation does not have an Annual Report?
If your organisation does not produce an Annual report you can attach your organisation’s latest audited financials together with any newsletters, bulletins or minutes from your Annual General Meeting in its place. This information helps our reviewers to gain a better understanding of your organisation.
Do I submit supporting documentation with the soft copy of my Application?
All applications require a soft copy of your Annual Report to be submitted. A hard copy may also be requested. Soft copies of your DGR & TCC Certificates issued by the ATO are also required to be submitted. Please note that print outs from the ABR website will not be accepted.
When Will I Be Notified of the Outcome of my Application?
Notification will be provided to both successful and unsuccessful applicants by the end of June and December respectively.
If I am successful, how will my donation be paid to me?
All donations are paid via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT). Applicants will be required to provide their banking details as part of the application process.
What do I have to do at the end of my funding period?
We require all successful applicants to submit an Acquittal report within 12 months of the funds being received by your organisation. The acquittal report is accessible through our website.
I haven’t spent the entire donation within the specified time. Can I get an extension?
You may be eligible for an extension. Please contact us to seek an extension to your grant timeline.
Where can I obtain a copy of your logo to acknowledge your contribution to our organisation?
A copy of the Foundation’s logo can be obtained upon a request.
Declined Requests
The value of requests made of the Foundation always exceeds its available funds. Therefore, the Foundation is unable to support many very worthwhile projects. The failure of a Grant application is not a reflection on your organisation or the project/program.
Do You Provide Feedback?
The Trustees are unable to enter into any discussions/correspondence in relation to the Applications that are not accepted.
Our current area of focus is for programs that directly benefit the Health & Education of Victorian Children (aged 18 & under).
